Defense Clan was one of the 4 great subsidiary Clans of the Clear Sky Clan until they removed themselves and became independent after the incident happen between the Clear Sky Clan and Spirit Hall.
The Defense Clan values defense above all else and uses Spirit Rings of strong Spirit Beasts to add to the Defense attribute.
After Niu Gao defeated by Tang San, in a contest bet,he was convinced to join Tang Sect,together with his clan.They also specialized in construction purposes.
Upon joining to Tang Sect Defense Clan becomes Defense Hall,with Niu Gao as it's leader
